Small Victories

who we are, what we're about

history

Small Victories was formed after the break-up of High Jinks, in the spring of 2005. After deciding to split due to changes in musical direction, and priorities for the other band members, Ewan and James were left still wanting to pursue a career as a hard working band.

From often jamming and playing some of their favourite songs from artists such as Biffy Clyro, James immediately brought Nick in to try out as drummer. After the musically best and most productive practice any felt they had ever had, it was decided that Nick would be the perfect choice to fill the role of drummer in the new band, and they then set out searching for a second guitarist.

After brief thoughts over other choices it was decided that long term friend of all the band members, Dan, would be the best choice for the role, and so came in and straight away started learning and writing second guitar parts for the songs Nick, James and Ewan had been working on.

Since then the band have been working hard practicing every week, if not more often, to get some sexy songs written, and despite only being together since the start of the summer have already got a solid half hour set of songs sorted, with an Incubus cover, and an old funky High Jinks song written by Ewan thrown in for good measure.

After their first gig upstairs at The Garage, for which the venue was nearly sold out, the band are still working hard writing new material and trying to create the sexual musical experience they all want to give the audience. With other gigs being arranged all the time, and a studio date to record their first demo being booked, Small Victories are hoping to be back soon with some more mind blowing music for you to get your heads down to.

sounds like

Hopefully whatever you want it to. We're very varied in our style due to the wide range of influences we've all got. But I guess we'd like it to kinda sound like a funked up, rockin, jazzy blend of musical sex.
